About Mimico Co-op
Mimico Co-operative Homes, which is approximately one kilometer from the Gardiner Expressway, located in the City of Etobicoke and steps away from a beautiful lake view. Mimico Co-op was incorporated in 1986.
Mimico consists of a 14 storey high-rise building with 153 suites, which includes 1, 2 and 3 bedroom units and13 accessible units. There are also 19 town homes, which include 3 and 4 bedrooms units.
The building has an office, two elevators; underground parking garage, a recreation room with kitchen facilities and a laundry room with 10 washer and 10 dryers.
The Co-operative is governed under the Co-operative Co-operation Act of Ontario; therefore the residents are members, not tenants. The members of Mimico co-op elect 9 of its members to a volunteer Board of Directors, whose job is to manage the overall business of the co-op. The board in turn hires a management company and delegates many of the day-to-day operations.
Mimico co-op offers both market rent and subsidized housing. Market rent application can be picked up and returned to 1 Summerhill Road. To become a member of Mimico Co-op, an applicant must complete an application form; complete an interview with the membership committee whose recommendation must be approved by the Board of Directors.
